About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design and implement the system model used across the company, owning its development and management end to end
Model services, APIs, data flows, deployments, internal software processes, and hardware and network interfaces
Partner with software engineers and understand how software is designed, built, tested, and released
Connect company architecture to reference architectures and frameworks used by partners and government programs
Define requirements and trace them through verification
Contribute model content to design reviews, proposals, and prime deliverables
Help define the systems engineering practice as the company grows
Learn the product, software architecture, teams, user interactions, and partner-system interactions during the first 30 days
Model a subsystem’s software components and hardware or partner interfaces and trace key requirements to verification by 60 days
Map architecture to a customer or government reference architecture or deliver model content for a proposal, design review, or prime deliverable by 90 days

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of systems engineering on software-intensive or networked systems
3+ years of hands-on MBSE, owning end-to-end model development and management
Expertise modeling in SysML (preferably v2) or a comparable language
Strong understanding of software design, architecture, microservices, distributed systems, APIs, version control, CI/CD, and agile delivery
Ability to model internal software processes
Experience defining hardware/software interfaces, including ICDs, protocols, data links, radios, sensors, or embedded hosts
Requirements engineering and verification traceability, especially in defense applications
Familiarity with government reference architectures and frameworks
Experience working with the military, defense primes, or government programs
Clear writing and ability to explain technical architecture to non-engineers and user needs and desired behaviors to engineers
Ability to obtain and maintain a US Security Clearance
U.S. Citizenship required
Current residency within the United States required
Permanent Residency (Green Card status) or visa sponsorship cannot satisfy the requirements
