About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the development and delivery of exceptional creative work across art and copy
  • Set the creative vision for a portfolio of pharmaceutical and wellness clients
  • Set and uphold creative vision, standards, and ways of working across art and copy
  • Lead integrated creative strategy and execution across brands, audiences, channels, and complex client assignments
  • Guide Associate Creative Directors and other creative leaders through direction, coaching, and delegated decision-making
  • Foster an integrated art-and-copy partnership producing strategically sound, compelling work
  • Serve as senior creative voice in client discussions, brand planning, concept presentations, and executive meetings
  • Build trusted senior-client relationships by connecting creative recommendations to strategy, audience needs, and business objectives
  • Resolve complex challenges involving strategy, craft, client feedback, regulatory requirements, timelines, staffing, and resources
  • Maintain accountability for creative quality, strategic alignment, accuracy, and regulatory viability
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders on briefs, brand plans, communication strategies, and client solutions
  • Develop the department’s leadership pipeline through coaching, performance management, succession planning, and delegation
  • Monitor creative function performance and health to improve quality, efficiency, collaboration, and scalability
  • Track trends across healthcare, culture, technology, media, and creativity and translate them into stronger work and agency-wide points of view
  • Report to an executive creative leader

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in advertising, communications, marketing, design, life sciences, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • At least 16 years of creative experience, including significant experience within a pharmaceutical or healthcare agency environment
  • At least five years of progressive leadership experience, including responsibility for multidisciplinary teams and other people leaders
  • Demonstrated success building teams, developing senior talent, managing performance, and planning resources across competing priorities
  • Strong foundation in either art or copy, with demonstrated ability to evaluate, direct, and elevate both disciplines
  • Portfolio demonstrating strategically grounded concepts, integrated campaigns, and high-quality work across multiple channels and audiences
  • Proven experience leading complex, high-value client relationships, brand planning, and creative work across multiple brands or accounts
  • Strong business judgment, including understanding of scopes, budgets, staffing, utilization, profitability, and agency growth
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, influence, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to balance ambitious creative thinking with strategic, regulatory, operational, and commercial realities
  • Copy of work portfolio required for future interview stages
