About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Join the team at Priory Hospital Ayr Clinic, a low secure mental health service for males and females with mental health diagnoses and/or personality disorders
- Work as a valued member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team
- Promote the best interests of clients and their carers
- Deliver prescribed nursing care safely and effectively
- Maintain a safe and supportive care environment
- Exercise professional accountability and responsibility
- Use nursing skills, knowledge and expertise to respond effectively to changing environments
- Work within the scope of professional practice and maintain high standards of care
- Work rotational shifts on the low secure forensic ward over a two-week period
- Work day shifts from 8:00am–8:15pm and night shifts from 8:00pm–8:15am
- Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday; Week 2: Wednesday and Thursday
Requirements
What you’ll need- Qualified Mental Health or Learning Disability Nurse with active NMC registration
- Minimum of 12 months post-registration experience working within a mental health care environment
- Completion of preceptorship programme
- Good understanding of NMC guidelines, requirements and professional standards
- Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Positive attitude with a commitment to change, improvement and delivering high-quality care
- Ability to work flexibly and use innovative approaches to care
- This role is not suitable for newly qualified nurses or preceptorship nurses
- Access to a vehicle or ability to drive is recommended due to the service location
- Ability to work rotational day and night shifts
