About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Validate/review and assign applicable CPT, ICD-10, Modifiers and HCPCS codes for inpatient, outpatient and physicians office/clinic settings
- Adhere to coding and compliance guidelines
- Maintain knowledge of coding/billing updates and payer-specific coding guidelines for multi-specialty medical practices
- Resolve assigned pre-billing edits
- Communicate billing-related issues and participate in meetings to improve the overall billing process
- Provide feedback to providers to clarify and resolve coding concerns
- Assist in identifying areas needing additional training
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School diploma or equivalent or post-high school diploma / highest degree earned
- Associate degree preferred
- Two (2) years professional coding experience
- Certified Professional Coder-CPC certification
- Knowledge of governmental and commercial payer guidelines
- Ability to utilize appropriate coding software and coding resources to determine correct codes
- Knowledge of office equipment (fax/copier)
- Proficient computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, database
- Data entry skills
- Mathematical skills
