About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Interview patients or other sources in accordance with HIPAA Guidelines to collect financial, demographic, and employment information
- Enter accurate information into the computer database, access Sovera, scan documents, and follow up on incomplete or missing information
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits and document verification in the system
- Assign appropriate insurance plans and ensure insurance priorities are correct
- Initiate pre-certification processes and obtain signed waivers when required
- Obtain required signatures and information on forms and documents
- Receive payments, issue receipts, maintain cash funds and verification logs, and make daily deposits
- Prepare and distribute reports, documents, patient identification items, schedules, and collection reports
- Communicate estimated financial responsibility and request payment before or at service
- Refer patients to payment-plan and financial-assistance programs
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School diploma or equivalent OR post-high school diploma/highest degree earned
- Two (2) years of Admissions, Billing, Collections, Insurance and/or Customer Service experience
- Basic computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, database, data entry)
- Knowledge of office equipment (fax/copier)
- Mathematical skills
- Registration and scheduling experience (Preferred)
- Familiarity with medical terminology (Preferred)
