About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide legal advice and guidance on corporate governance, contractual matters, and regulatory compliance
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and laws
- Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and legal documents with clients, employees, vendors, and other parties
- Assist with corporate transactions, including fundraising, mergers and acquisitions, and strategic partnerships
- Counsel the product team on data and privacy compliance, commercial contracts, terms and conditions, privacy policies, consumer and financial regulatory compliance, go-to-market strategy, risk, and marketing
- Oversee corporate governance matters, including board and shareholder matters, agendas, minutes, consents, and resolutions
- Handle equity compensation matters, intellectual property protection, and data and privacy law compliance
- Collaborate with and manage outside counsel on intellectual property, human resources, and employment matters
- Draft and update template agreements, corporate documents, and corporate and information security policies and procedures
- Represent the company in legal proceedings, negotiations, and meetings with external parties
- Advise on employment matters and ensure compliance with applicable law
- Maintain organized and up-to-date legal records, documents, and correspondence
- Enhance legal team processes and compliance frameworks
- Report to the VP Strategic Finance and Rev Ops and work cross-functionally with operations, finance, sales, technology, and product teams
Requirements
What you’ll need- JD from a top law school
- Active member of the NY State Bar in good standing
- 5+ years of experience with a strong primary background in commercial / technology transactions
- Secondary experience in privacy law
- Corporate law, contract negotiation, and regulatory compliance preferred
- Fintech experience is a plus
- Proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal teams, external clients, and outside counsel
- Expertise in negotiating, drafting, and modifying key terms of strategic commercial agreements
- Practical, solution-oriented legal approach with ability to identify creative and effective solutions
- Ability to communicate complex legal concepts effectively to non-legal stakeholders
- Excellent ability to operate and communicate remotely
- Exceptional judgment, responsiveness, and ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative, and high-growth environment
- Strong team player with excellent communication skills and a proactive, hands-on approach
- Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. indefinitely
