About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead and provide strategic vision for the technology team
Ensure successful delivery of secure, scalable and efficient technology solutions for clients
Lead a multi-disciplinary team and create conditions for high performance and continuous improvement
Act as escalation point for the team and clients
Collaborate with Client Services and Digital Project Managers on technical delivery
Collaborate with the Business Development Lead to win new business
Oversee the internal IT team responsible for infrastructure, security, IT operations and AI governance
Meet regularly with the team to ensure resources support exceptional client outcomes
Review the roadmap and bring value-added client initiatives to life
Manage the performance of the internal IT team overseeing infrastructure, cloud platforms and business-critical systems
Lead compliance activities relating to ISO 27001, GDPR and cybersecurity best practices
Make decisions on services and technology stack to optimise delivery and value for money
Manage relationships with technology vendors, suppliers and service partners
Provide general support and handle escalated issues
Oversee technology standards, governance frameworks and best practices
Collaborate with directors and the Business Development Lead on new business tenders and pitches

Requirements

What you’ll need

Significant experience leading software development and technology teams within an agency environment
Experience with modern web technologies, cloud platforms and software development methodologies
Experience of digital marketing products, including websites and Martech services such as HubSpot
Knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, cloud hosting and platform operations
Experience with stakeholder management and excellent communication skills
Ability to remain calm under pressure and make evidence-based decisions
ISO 27001 and CyberEssentials experience
Motivation for process improvement and innovation through automation, tooling and process optimisation
Ability to improve software development practices, quality assurance and release management
Pragmatic and solution-oriented leadership
Strong communication skills, including translating technical concepts into business language
Strong organisation, prioritisation and decision-making skills
Collaborative and approachable leadership style
Commercial awareness and focus on measurable business outcomes
Experience managing, motivating and developing teams
Experience working within an agency setting in a similar role closely with a Board of Directors
