About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair HVAC systems in Progress Residential single-family rental homes
  • Provide outstanding customer service and represent Progress Residential professionally
  • Perform scheduled, unscheduled, and emergency preventive maintenance, inspections, and service requests
  • Replace or modify equipment and systems as needed
  • Maintain and repair electrical, plumbing, HVAC, appliances, irrigation, stairs, gates, fences, patios, railings, flooring, roofing, gutters, lights, ceiling fans, fireplaces, gas fixtures, doors, windows, locks, leaks, drywall, painting, and pool areas
  • Diagnose advanced HVAC issues and repair or replace defective equipment, components, or wiring
  • Report major repairs or replacements before spending funds
  • Identify and immediately correct unsafe property conditions
  • Follow company policies, procedures, and applicable state and federal regulations
  • Uphold workplace safety standards and practices
  • Complete service requests professionally and promptly
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality
  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in general service and maintenance (painting, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, drywall repair, etc.)
  • EPA Certification Required
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience providing routine maintenance, cleaning, inspection, and repair of warm air furnaces, air conditioners, duct distribution systems, water heaters, and related piping and electrical
  • Own basic tools required to perform ongoing residential service
  • Reliable transportation capable of safely transporting required materials
  • Valid driver’s license in the working state
  • Available for on-call service, weekends, and evenings as needed
  • Knowledge of pertinent laws and EPA and OSHA regulations
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Working proficiency with handheld computers such as smartphones or iPads
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and climb stairs repeatedly
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet multiple tight deadlines
  • Ability to interact professionally with residents, vendors, and contractors
  • Strong organizational, communication, and people skills
  • Honest, ethical, and able to handle matters confidentially
  • Satisfactory background and drug screen required for employment
