About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Inspect, troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems in Progress Residential single-family homes
  • Provide outstanding customer service and represent Progress Residential professionally
  • Perform scheduled, unscheduled and emergency preventative maintenance, inspections and service requests
  • Replace and modify equipment or systems as needed or requested
  • Perform maintenance and repairs involving electrical, plumbing, HVAC, appliances, irrigation, stairs, gates, fences, patios, railings, flooring, roofing, gutters, lighting, fireplaces, doors, windows, locks, leaks, drywall, painting and pool areas
  • Diagnose advanced HVAC issues and repair or replace defective equipment, components or wiring
  • Report major repairs or replacements before expenditures are made
  • Identify and immediately correct unsafe property conditions
  • Conduct business in accordance with company policies, procedures and state and federal regulations
  • Uphold workplace safety standards and practices
  • Complete service requests professionally and promptly
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality
  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in general service and maintenance
  • EPA Certification Required
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience maintaining, inspecting, diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing warm air furnaces, air conditioners, duct distribution systems, water heaters, related piping and electrical
  • Own basic tools required to perform ongoing residential service
  • Reliable transportation capable of safely transporting ladders, hot water heaters, appliances and other required materials
  • Valid driver’s license in the working state
  • Availability for on-call service, weekends and evenings as needed
  • Knowledge of pertinent laws and EPA and OSHA regulations
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Working proficiency with handheld computers such as smartphones or iPads
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds with ease
  • Ability to climb stairs several times each day
  • Ability to interact tactfully and professionally with residents, vendors and contractors
  • Strong organizational, communication and people skills
  • Honest, ethical and able to handle matters confidentially
  • Employment conditional on satisfactory background and drug screen
