About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Set the technical vision for the Marketplace team
Design and build a system that serves helpful offers to users efficiently and effectively
Manage and coach 3–5 reports across multiple sub-teams
Help reports advance in their careers
Develop team-level processes that foster consistency and collaboration in a remote-first culture
Sustain efficient cross-functional collaboration between engineering, product, design, and data
Advocate for necessary system changes
Ensure smooth onboarding for new engineers and help the team iterate on the process
Serve as a player-coach, acting as technical lead while managing 3–5 teammates across multiple sub-teams

Requirements

What you’ll need

10+ years of experience designing and developing web or mobile applications, especially ad tech or consumer products
2+ years of experience managing engineers of various levels in a start-up remote-first environment
Strong AI skills and the ability to think systematically about when and where to use AI most effectively
A growth mindset, curiosity, and the desire to understand how the Marketplace business operates
Excellent written and verbal communication
Passion for making a difference in the lives of users
Experience with or knowledge of government services, particularly SNAP, WIC, TANF, SSI, SSDI, Medicaid, or Section 8, is a plus
Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer
Must not require visa sponsorship now or in the future
