About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work alongside core development teams to design cloud deployment architectures on Azure
  • Lead provisioning of deployment environments, including servers, services, networking and communications with technical client stakeholders
  • Ensure security, scalability, supportability and performance in solution architectures
  • Assist development teams with continuous integration and deployment pipelines
  • Carry out scheduled software releases where full automation has not yet been achieved
  • Configure monitoring and alerting tools and integrate them with support desk software
  • Provide technical assistance for support-ticket triage and troubleshooting
  • Participate in diagnosis and resolution of reactive support issues during business hours and shared after-hours on-call periods
  • Complete incident reports with recommendations for ongoing mitigation
  • Implement mitigations with core development teams
  • Monitor incident progress and communicate status updates to clients
  • Design and implement proactive continuous-improvement programmes to minimise support issues
  • Automate recurring tasks rather than repeating them manually
  • Document system architecture and configuration/deployment processes with AI assistance
  • Share technical knowledge with support developers across multiple teams
  • Support existing operations and optimise software and infrastructure to improve reliability and reduce cost

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Previous experience as a Site/Systems Reliability Engineer, DevOps Engineer or equivalent role
  • Comfortable using AI to diagnose, script, automate and document within an AI-assisted delivery pipeline
  • Expertise developing scalable web applications
  • Some proficiency in Rust, Java, .NET or Go
  • Experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Node.js, ReactJS, AngularJS or similar front-end frameworks
  • Proven scripting experience using PowerShell, Ruby, Python, shell or other common scripting languages, including AI tools
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Azure deployment architectures, Microsoft DevOps deployment pipelines, GitHub Actions and Terraform
  • System administration of Linux cloud-based server environments
  • Troubleshooting and configuration of virtual networks
  • Familiarity with New Relic, Dynatrace or similar monitoring frameworks, including dashboards and alerting integration
  • Some experience with AWS and Bamboo/Bitbucket Pipelines is advantageous
  • Ability to switch context across different technologies and complex environments
  • Ability to remain calm during high-priority issue resolution
  • Good judgement about when to trust AI-generated diagnoses and when to verify by hand
  • Strong desire to learn and up-skill
  • Must be Auckland based
  • Must attend the office three days per week on dedicated in-office days, and occasionally as required by client and team needs
  • Candidates progressing may need to agree to a police background check, credit history check and other assessments
  • Must provide evidence of qualifications if requested
  • Final recruitment stage requires an in-person interview in New Zealand
