About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Deliver resilient software systems powering complex infrastructure and innovative platforms.
- Work alongside Product Strategists to shape technical specifications and platform direction for client products.
- Lead and guide the design of complex systems using extensive experience, judgement and insights.
- Apply and reinforce engineering standards for programming.
- Shape technical solutions built by the AI-assisted delivery pipeline.
- Ensure client platforms align with Propellerhead’s technical strategy.
- Work with the Chief Technologist and Engineering Principal to apply standards, patterns and tooling in client contexts.
- Provide input into technical strategy through client platform insights and delivery experience.
- Author, review and communicate solution architecture and specifications with Development and Engineering teams.
- Champion Propellerhead’s technical strategy and align portfolio solutions with it.
- Build trusted relationships with client decision-makers and explain solution designs to client technologists.
- Serve as the go-to technical person for client solutions, facilitating delivery prerequisites and operational improvements.
- Develop strategies for speed-to-value, security, reliability, maintainability, performance and functional fit.
- Facilitate evolution of the codebase from C# to Rust and its related ecosystem, with AI central to requirements, testing and code generation.
Requirements
What you’ll need- 8+ years of experience with the development of multi-tier and distributed applications.
- Very comfortable using AI to rapidly prototype, shape solutions, and direct an AI-assisted delivery pipeline across requirements, testing and code generation.
- Confident, credible communicator and presenter in front of senior client stakeholders.
- Previous experience with React and C# is essential.
- Confidence working with TypeScript, Java, Go and Rust services.
- Demonstrable strong communication skills bridging technical solutions with business needs.
- Hands-on experience designing solutions on Azure is essential.
- Active participation in building CI/CD pipelines and instrumenting for operations is required.
- Experience with streaming and messaging platforms such as Kafka or NATS is highly desirable.
- Proven experience leading the design of complex software applications, preferably for corporate enterprise.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional, confident presence and ability to communicate and influence clearly.
- Experience or demonstrable interest in digital identity, verifiable credentials, open banking, AI agent authorization, edge or device-based software deployment.
- Candidates progressing may need to agree to a police background check, credit history check, other assessments, and provide evidence of qualifications.
- Must be based in Auckland, New Zealand, or planning to relocate there.
- Final recruitment stage is an in-person interview in New Zealand.
