About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the prioritization of water and sanitation investments (CAPEX) and decision-making for the project portfolio
- Structure and enhance the investment management pipeline, including workflows, approval gates, CAPEX methodologies, and governance
- Conduct executive critical reviews of investment projects, assessing technical and economic feasibility and alignment with the budget
- Monitor budget execution, including actual spending, rescheduling, variances, and replanning
- Support the monitoring of contract and construction work measurements
- Prepare strategic and executive reports for senior management
- Maintain and enhance the investment database, ensuring data integrity, traceability, and standardization
- Define and monitor financial and performance indicators (KPIs) for projects and the portfolio
- Ensure alignment between engineering and finance
- Propose process improvements and automation initiatives that increase CAPEX management efficiency
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Data Science, or a related field
- Substantial experience with CAPEX, budget management, investment control, and financial monitoring of projects, preferably in water and sanitation, infrastructure, or utilities
- Experience prioritizing investments, structuring management pipelines and governance frameworks, and analyzing project feasibility
- Experience with data analysis, financial and operational KPIs, and preparing management and executive reports
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong executive communication skills and the ability to engage with senior management and stakeholders
- Postgraduate degree in Finance, Project Management, or Investment Management
- Knowledge of SQL for data queries and extraction
- Knowledge of Power Query, Power Pivot, or other data processing and modeling tools
- Experience with Power BI
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), particularly investment/CAPEX modules
- Knowledge of the water and sanitation sector and investment closeout processes (capitalization and benefits analysis)
