About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual major-gift prospects and donors
- Build and manage an active portfolio and pipeline of qualified major-gift prospects
- Serve as a principal frontline fundraiser for PPL’s Read. Think. Decide. $8 million Endowment Campaign
- Develop individualized moves-management, cultivation, and solicitation strategies
- Conduct face-to-face donor and prospect visits and maintain meaningful donor interactions
- Make direct solicitations and close major gifts, including five- and six-figure+ gifts
- Build the major-gift pipeline through prospect identification, research, referrals, and engagement
- Move qualified annual and mid-level donors into major-gift relationships
- Prepare proposals, gift requests, correspondence, briefing materials, and donor-specific materials
- Identify planned-giving opportunities and coordinate them with Library leadership
- Maintain donor records, prospect activity, solicitations, gift information, and next steps in Raiser’s Edge
- Meet performance goals for donor visits, solicitations, gifts closed, dollars raised, and portfolio movement
- Work with the Executive Director/CEO, campaign leadership, Trustees, volunteers, and fundraising counsel
- Assist with campaign administration, reporting, prospect tracking, cultivation, and stewardship activities
- Report to the Chief Executive Officer
- Support Providence Public Library’s diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives and perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
- Significant experience in frontline major gifts fundraising strongly preferred
- Proven track record of personally cultivating, soliciting, and securing five- and six-figure+ gifts from individual donors
- Campaign or endowment fundraising experience strongly preferred
- Google applications experience required, including Gmail, Meet, Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Forms
- Knowledge of Zoom, Google Meet, or other web-conferencing software
- Proven knowledge of development/fundraising best practices and solicitation techniques
- Experience preparing donor proposals, solicitation materials, and correspondence
- Proficiency with Raiser’s Edge and disciplined use of moves management and prospect tracking
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking
- Superb interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Excellent attention to detail and strong project management skills
- Ability to understand and communicate philanthropic funding opportunities, including endowment and planned giving
- Ability to build trust-based relationships with donors, funders, Trustees, volunteers, community stakeholders, patrons, and staff
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently
- Flexibility to attend evening and weekend events as necessary
- Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 25 lbs.
- Driving and local travel availability; travel expected 15–20%
