About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design and build scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot
- Develop high-performance REST APIs and microservices
- Build backend capabilities for subscriptions, payments and user entitlements
- Implement Fire TV IAP purchase and subscription workflows
- Integrate with app stores, payment providers and external platform APIs
- Build workflows covering purchases, renewals, cancellations, refunds and subscription-state changes
- Design reliable, idempotent transaction-processing systems
- Handle retries, failures, reconciliation and eventual consistency across distributed services
- Build event-driven and asynchronous workflows using messaging systems
- Design systems that can handle high throughput and sudden traffic spikes
- Optimize service latency, throughput, scalability and infrastructure utilization
- Improve observability through logging, metrics, tracing and alerting
- Troubleshoot complex production issues across distributed services
- Participate in architecture reviews, code reviews and technical-design discussions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Strong programming experience with Java
- Strong experience with Spring Boot / Spring ecosystem
- Strong experience designing RESTful APIs and microservices
- Solid understanding of distributed systems, concurrency and asynchronous processing
- Experience with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL/MySQL
- Experience with NoSQL databases is desirable
- Experience with caching technologies such as Redis
- Experience with Kafka or similar event-streaming/messaging platforms
- Understanding of transaction management, idempotency and data consistency
- Experience with AWS or similar cloud platforms
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines
- Strong production-debugging and performance-optimization skills
- 7+ years of backend engineering experience
- Strong architecture and system-design expertise
- Experience building high-throughput, low-latency and highly available systems
- Strong understanding of failure handling and distributed-system design
- Ability to independently drive complex platform integrations
- Experience mentoring engineers and reviewing architecture and code
