About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead technology prioritization across Underwriting and Product organizations
  • Build and run the process for deciding which technology work gets done, in what order, and why
  • Create a single view of demand and capacity across technology teams and business stakeholders
  • Facilitate prioritization and trade-off conversations with business owners and IT leaders
  • Own and continuously refine the cross-team backlog
  • Define the technology-work prioritization framework and decision-making process
  • Design and operate governance forums, meeting cadences, agendas, escalation paths, supporting materials, and status reporting
  • Facilitate prioritization forums and drive clear decisions
  • Manage and communicate trade-offs when business owners require work to proceed
  • Partner with IT leadership and system architects on capacity planning, sizing, and breaking work from epic to feature
  • Define requirements and acceptance criteria needed for development readiness
  • Improve requirements documentation and sign-off processes to minimize defects
  • Use lessons from completed work to refine standards over time

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 8 years of experience in product management, product ownership, program management, or technology portfolio management
  • Experience prioritizing work across multiple delivery teams
  • Personal lines insurance background
  • Working knowledge of underwriting, policy administration, and product change processes
  • Ability to assign business value, make recommendations, and drive decisions under competing demands
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to influence decisions outside direct authority and build trusted relationships with business and IT partners
  • Experience building operating processes from scratch, including intake, governance, cadences, and reporting
  • Working familiarity with agile practices, including backlogs, epics, features, capacity-based planning, and iterative refinement
  • Experience with a policy administration platform preferred
  • Agile product owner or product management certification (CSPO, PSPO, SAFe PM/PO, or similar) preferred
  • A bachelor’s degree is required
