About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build marketplace features from start to finish, including backend services and customer-facing interfaces
  • Make technical decisions for listings, trading, checkout, payments, and account features
  • Build fast, accessible web experiences with TypeScript, React, and Next.js
  • Improve fraud prevention, risk detection, and payment and order reliability
  • Work with Growth on acquisition, onboarding, activation, and retention
  • Use customer feedback, product data, and operations input to improve shipped features
  • Review code and contribute to architecture decisions
  • Help other engineers develop their skills
  • Collaborate with design, growth, customer support, and product leadership to decide what to build and deliver launches

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 3+ years of experience building customer-facing software
  • Experience taking features from initial idea through development, launch, and improvements
  • Strong experience with TypeScript, React, and Next.js
  • Experience building backend APIs and services with Node.js or a similar stack
  • Experience using PostgreSQL or another relational database
  • Ability to use data and customer feedback to evaluate features
  • Clear communication with technical and nontechnical teammates
  • Ability to make decisions and keep work moving when priorities change
  • Bonus: Experience building marketplaces, fintech, commerce, or transaction-handling products
  • Bonus: Experience with payments, fraud detection, identity, or trust and safety systems
  • Bonus: Experience building experiments, analytics tools, or growth features
  • Bonus: Experience scaling high-traffic web applications
