Key responsibilities & impact
  • Deliver innovative legal solutions and advice to internal stakeholders and clients
  • Lead legal compliance transformation initiatives to streamline processes and enhance client service
  • Utilize technology and process improvement methodologies to drive value in the Office of General Counsel
  • Analyze and identify linkages within legal systems to optimize performance and minimize risks
  • Lead teams and manage client accounts through strategic planning and mentoring junior staff
  • Own project planning, budgeting, execution, and completion
  • Address conflicts and engage in difficult conversations with clients, team members, and stakeholders
  • Coach and mentor team members to develop skills and leverage strengths
  • Review work to deepen team members' skills and encourage continuous improvement
  • Uphold professional and technical standards, including the firm's code of conduct
  • Develop policies and guidelines supporting legal compliance and contractual risk management
  • Use strategic questioning and analytical thinking to identify improvement opportunities
  • Maintain compliance, minimize legal risks, and drive value across industries

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • At least a Bachelor's degree
  • At least 5 years of experience
  • Preference for study in Business Administration/Management, Computer Science/Information Systems, or Economics
  • Experience managing regulatory compliance, regulatory affairs, risk management, operations, or consulting activities within Energy & Utilities or similarly regulated environments
  • Experience applying regulatory frameworks including FERC, NERC, state PUCs, ISO/RTOs, OSHA, EPA, and other federal and state requirements
  • Experience designing, assessing, and transforming regulatory compliance programs, processes, and controls
  • Experience documenting and improving workflows using process mapping and business process tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, Bizagi, or Signavio
  • Experience conducting forensic investigations, internal audits, and root-cause analyses within regulated utility environments
  • Proficiency in legal compliance and contract management
  • Analytical thinking to enhance business performance management
  • Coaching and feedback skills
  • Ability to embrace change and innovation in regulatory environments
  • Ability to develop policies and guidelines for process improvement
  • Ability to engage in strategic questioning to drive client solutions
  • Ability to travel up to 60%
