About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead and support Financial Crime advisory engagements from planning through delivery
  • Manage scope, timelines, budgets, risks and deliverable quality
  • Design engagement approaches, workplans and testing procedures for AML program reviews, regulatory readiness assessments, AML program builds and other Financial Crime mandates
  • Assess AML/ATF and sanctions program design and operating effectiveness
  • Translate regulatory requirements and assessment findings into recommendations, reports, presentations, frameworks, policies and implementation roadmaps
  • Manage multiple client engagements and workstreams, provide status reporting and escalate issues to practice leadership
  • Build client stakeholder relationships and facilitate interviews and workshops
  • Communicate complex issues to business and compliance audiences
  • Coach and review team members’ work
  • Maintain knowledge of Canadian and global Financial Crime regulatory developments, enforcement trends, industry practices and emerging risks
  • Contribute to business development by identifying opportunities, developing proposals and scopes, supporting pursuits and expanding client relationships
  • Collaborate across the firm to bring expertise to clients and contribute to the growth and quality culture of the Financial Crime Advisory practice

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, business administration, law, economics or a related field
  • Recognized AML or Financial Crime designation, such as CAMS, is an asset
  • 5–10 years of relevant AML/ATF, sanctions or broader Financial Crime experience in consulting, financial services or another regulated sector
  • Strong knowledge of AML governance and operations
  • Experience independently reviewing or auditing AML programs is an asset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated client-facing advisory experience, including managing senior stakeholders and presenting defensible recommendations
  • Experience leading project teams and workstreams, reviewing deliverables, coaching team members and managing competing priorities
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong knowledge of FINTRAC requirements and Canadian Financial Crime risk management expectations
  • Hands-on experience designing, enhancing or independently assessing Financial Crime compliance programs, governance frameworks, risk assessments, policies, procedures and controls
  • Experience delivering AML program effectiveness reviews, regulatory remediation or readiness assessments, AML program builds, or large-scale Financial Crime transformation initiatives
  • Understanding of current Financial Crime market trends, leading practices, operating models, processes and enabling technologies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience assessing and enhancing first-line business processes and controls related to customer due diligence, transaction monitoring, investigations, sanctions screening, regulatory reporting or other Financial Crime risk
