About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, build, and maintain robust backend services and APIs
Develop and improve core functionality for Qargo’s Transport Management Platform
Work primarily with Python, Django, GraphQL, and Google Cloud infrastructure
Improve architecture, data flows, cloud infrastructure, and backend code
Build core product features and cloud infrastructure improvements
Ensure systems support customer-base growth through reliability, performance, scalability, and resilience
Collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers, backend engineers, and cross-functional teams
Translate real-world logistics challenges into scalable technical solutions
Contribute to technical decisions and shape the platform’s evolution
Improve efficiency and sustainability in the logistics industry

Requirements

What you’ll need

Master’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or Software Engineering
At least 2 years of experience in backend development
Experience with Python, Django, GraphQL, Postgres, Kubernetes (k8s), PubSub, and Google Cloud
Passion for solving complex technical challenges and designing scalable software solutions
Understanding of technical tradeoffs and pragmatic decision-making
Growth mindset and eagerness to learn, experiment, and expand knowledge
Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Ability to work independently and in a team
User-first mentality and concern for real-world impact
Willingness to share knowledge and accomplish shared goals
Experience writing and understanding complex SQL queries in Postgres and Google Cloud BigQuery is a plus
Knowledge of distributed queueing systems at scale is nice to have
Experience with large production Python codebases is a bonus
