About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide strategic leadership and oversight of transportation, freight forwarding, and project logistics operations
- Directly manage, mentor, and develop operations and project management teams
- Establish performance expectations, provide coaching, conduct performance evaluations, and maintain team accountability
- Oversee complex domestic and international logistics projects
- Develop and implement operational standards, procedures, and performance metrics
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and increase profitability
- Collaborate with sourcing, sales, finance, and executive leadership to support business objectives
- Monitor project performance, financial results, customer satisfaction, and operational risks
- Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and contractual requirements
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, carriers, and vendors
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives across the organization
Requirements
What you’ll need- 7–10+ years of progressive experience in transportation, logistics, freight forwarding, or third-party logistics
- Proven experience directly supervising and leading teams, including employee development, performance management, coaching, and accountability
- Demonstrated success in building and managing high-performing operational teams
- Previous experience in a senior operations leadership or management role
- Strong knowledge of project cargo and multimodal transportation
- Experience managing complex logistics projects and remote teams
- Demonstrated ability to improve operational performance, financial results, and customer satisfaction
- Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and strategic decision-making skills
- Proficiency in transportation management systems and Microsoft Office
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience (preferred)
