About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage and inspect the day-to-day activities of multiple electric contractor crews for substation and transmission line projects
- Facilitate electric infrastructure installation and ensure compliance with safety standards, company specifications, construction standards, and governmental regulations
- Manage performance objectives for cycle time and cost
- Oversee and direct contractors performing electric cable installations and electric cut-ins
- Notify federal, state, and local agencies before, during, and after construction as required
- Coordinate customer requirements, construction sequencing, and site readiness before construction
- Maintain regular contact with contractor supervision regarding job performance and document results
- Ensure contract terms and technical specifications are met
- Verify key unit quantities
- Make and communicate field decisions regarding job changes and document updates in information technology systems
- Schedule and coordinate required electric system outages
- Perform weekly crew safety audits and document performance in the Asset Suite Safety Audit/Observation Tool
- Coordinate permit and work-with requirements with third-party utilities and permit agencies
- Review and approve contractor-submitted documents
- Communicate job status to facilitate scheduling commitments
- Maintain customer coordination during construction and conduct completion walk-downs with customers and contractors
- Perform storm duty assignments as needed
- Report to the service center, jobsite, or remote location
Requirements
What you’ll need- 10+ years of materials, construction standards, regulations (OSHA), and safety requirements for electric distribution and substation construction
- Thorough knowledge of company work, environmental, and safety practices
- Working knowledge of electric operations
- Ability to maintain or obtain switching and outage authorization
- Thorough/in-depth knowledge of materials, construction standards, regulations (OSHA), and safety requirements for electric distribution and substation construction
- Thorough knowledge of PC and job/work management applications, including AS8, Atlas, Mobile Maps, and MS Office Suite
- Knowledge of distribution contracts
- Ability to travel 50–75%
