About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Create detailed scopes and estimates, perform engineering calculations, and develop detailed plan and profile design drawings
- Model transmission lines using PLS-CADD
- Perform electrical studies including EMF, Audible Noise, Radio Interference, Grounding, Step & Touch Potentials, AC Interference, Conductor Ampacity, Corona, Line Impedance Parameters, and Fault calculations using CDEGS and MATHCAD
- Prepare technical engineering reports and memos
- Design high-voltage transmission line structures using PLS-POLE and PLS-TOWER
- Engineer transmission line projects from definition phase through implementation phase
- Prepare staged design review packages and maintain detailed design and calculation documentation
- Analyze engineering problems, identify solutions, and prepare supporting reports and recommendations
- Provide technical advice and guidance to design engineers
- Monitor project engineering schedules and manage assigned project budgets
- Support procurement through material specifications, requisitions, scope documents, material take-offs, and technical bid evaluations
- Provide construction support and project engineering coordination during installation and commissioning with clients and subcontractors
- Respond to site information requests and complete project documentation, including as-builts, calculations, and return of data to clients
- Maintain and enhance relationships with internal groups, contractors, and clients
- Travel to and visit project sites during project definition and execution
- Support management with planning, business development, proposals, performance evaluations, and appraisals
- Develop and implement specifications, standards, templates, and engineering tools
Requirements
What you’ll need- Transmission, Electrical, Civil/Structural Engineering Degree from a recognized university
- Professional Engineering Designation
- 10 - 15+ years of transmission line engineering experience
- Proven experience within a Transmission Utility or EPC organization designing transmission lines utilizing PLS–CADD/PLS-TOWER/PLS-POLE
- Knowledge of electrical/structural aspects of power transmission system
- Knowledge of transmission line materials (structures, conductors/OHSW, OPGW/ADSS, insulators, hardware accessories and fittings)
- Direct experience on the safety aspects of the design of high voltage transmission lines
- Utility-specific knowledge and safety requirements
- Construction support experience for Transmission projects
