About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Complete relay coordination analyses and determine appropriate settings for substation projects
- Lead development of company system protection philosophy
- Design protection, control, and substation automation schemes
- Specify relaying and associated equipment, including automation methodologies and large to complex remedial action schemes
- Perform studies and prepare and provide reports to executive management and internal and external customers
- Develop state-of-the-art solutions for large to complex protection problems, including analysis of power system disturbances
- Ensure quality control and external customer service on assigned projects
- Provide construction support and coordinate with construction forces
- Seek and incorporate customer input
- Ensure compliance with applicable policies, codes, regulations, and NERC/WECC mandates
- Perform related duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Engineering degree from an accredited college/university with 8 years industry experience and a Professional Engineer (PE) license, or an Engineering degree from an accredited college/university with 10 years of industry experience without a Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Demonstrated knowledge of electric utility system protection principles
- Demonstrated knowledge of protection philosophies employed across the company
- Technical analyses utilizing appropriate computer modeling techniques
- Time management, organizational, oral, and written communication, interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Knowledge of and compliance with NERC/WECC mandates, policies, codes, and regulations
