About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java-based backend services and APIs within the Guidewire ClaimCenter ecosystem
Lead Gosu-to-Java code transformation initiatives using LLM productivity tools to accelerate and validate code conversion workflows
Analyze Guidewire ClaimCenter configurations, rules, workflows, and integration points and re-engineer Gosu customizations into maintainable Java solutions
Architect and develop RESTful APIs and microservices integrating ClaimCenter with billing, policy, actuarial, and external TPA systems
Collaborate with insurance business analysts, claims SMEs, and architects to gather requirements and deliver solutions aligned with claims processes
Participate in architectural discussions and technical design decisions
Conduct code reviews, enforce coding standards, and mentor junior and mid-level developers
Develop and maintain unit and integration tests
Work within Agile/Scrum methodologies using CI/CD pipelines and Git
Document technical designs, API specifications, and transformation guidelines
Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize ClaimCenter performance in production and non-production environments

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
6+ years of hands-on software development experience, with strong emphasis on Java (Java 8/11/17) backend development
Strong, demonstrable understanding of Guidewire ClaimCenter, including configuration, PCF/UI rules, business rules, workflow, integration framework, and data model
Working knowledge of Gosu programming language
Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices using Java frameworks; Spring Boot preferred
Understanding of LLM-based developer productivity tools, including Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, and Amazon CodeWhisperer
Strong understanding of software design patterns, object-oriented principles, and clean code practices
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git/GitHub/GitLab), and Agile delivery methodologies
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to work in cross-functional, global teams
Guidewire Certification is a strong plus
Experience with Guidewire Cloud, Guidewire Integration Gateway, Guidewire DataHub/InfoCenter, or Guidewire Digital portals is preferred
Experience with message-driven architectures such as Kafka, JMS, or MQ is preferred
Knowledge of insurance claims workflows is preferred
Exposure to AWS, GCP, or Azure is preferred
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is preferred
Familiarity with MuleSoft, Apigee, or AWS API Gateway is preferred
Prior Gosu-to-Java migration experience is highly desirable
