About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, build, and maintain backend services powering quantum-computing control and orchestration systems
- Develop components managing system configuration, health, and cluster operations across distributed, networked environments
- Integrate backend services with hardware-facing and embedded systems
- Collaborate with multiple teams to support software installation and setup on products
- Help ensure systems are reliable, observable, and easy to operate
- Own features end-to-end from design through implementation
- Work closely with engineers across sites and disciplines
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of experience in backend development
- Proficient in at least one of Go, Python, or Kotlin, with willingness to learn the others
- Comfortable working in a Linux environment
- Experience managing configuration with Ansible
- Experience with inter-process communication over TCP/UDP, gRPC, and REST on Linux
- Ability to debug connectivity and latency issues
- Proven experience across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements engineering and design to development and testing
- Passion for technology and ability to learn new technologies quickly
- Strong engineering capabilities and ability to work independently
- Ability to execute under uncertainty in a dynamic environment
- Enjoyment of working in a cross-geography, multi-site environment
- Excellent verbal and written English skills
- AI coding agent experience
