About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform accounting duties to ensure accurate and timely financial statements according to generally accepted accounting practices
- Support Property Management staff with accounting software-related tasks
- Reconcile multiple bank accounts
- Analyze tenant ledgers
- Review cash receipts for accuracy
- Report violations of internal control policies
- Update property budget templates and upload annual budgets into accounting software
- Review monthly rent charges
- Make weekly bank deposits for funds received in the Home Office General Ledger account
- Perform general ledger account reconciliations
- Prepare monthly journal entries
- Prepare monthly financial statements
- Assist Property Management staff with accounting questions
- Assist in audits
- Perform additional duties as required by supervisory personnel
- Maintain courteous and collaborative conduct with staff, residents, and external contacts
- No supervisory responsibilities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Strong knowledge of accounting and financial principles and practices
- Mathematical and analytical skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, accounting software, and property management software
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree specializing in accounting or related field; or equivalent education and experience preferred
- Preferred experience in similar setting
- Proficient in MS Office, particularly email, Word, and Excel
- Knowledge of accounting procedures
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and interpret emails, financial documents, instructional documents, rental agreements, and procedure manuals
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using American money and weight, volume, and distance measurements
- Ability to meet stated physical demands, including frequently lifting/moving up to 25 pounds and rarely more than 100 pounds
- Must live within 2 hours of Portland, OR
