About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support generation of technical safety requirements and documentation for sub-systems, including in-service support and associated costs
- Identify, collate and evaluate technical safety data to support project documentation maturity
- Comply with relevant safety legislation, regulation, policy, processes and standards
- Contribute to technical risk management at project/programme level
- Generate, update and review safety artefacts and safety cases for equipment types
- Collaborate with sub-system teams and specialists on technical safety requirements
- Support safety testing, verification, validation and evaluation
- Assist with safety decisions for through-life support and modification of operational sub-systems
- Support technical assurance activities within the Safety Engineering discipline
- Support disposal and decommissioning of basic equipment
- Draft recommendations relating to the technical area
- Maintain professional development and keep current with modern engineering technologies
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience providing technical advice and delivering successful engineering outcomes
- Science, Technology, Engineering and/or Mathematics-based qualification at RQF Level 3, or professional registration as an Engineering Technician (EngTech) or Registered Science Technician (RSciTech)
- Awareness of financial budgets
- Ability to provide input into Business Cases and approvals, including generating or reviewing cost estimates for technical services or products
- Ability to identify and apply appropriate technical legislation, regulation, standards, policies and processes
- Ability to identify effective and efficient approaches to processing data
- Ability to select appropriate communication methods and resolve potential stakeholder conflicts
- Ability to respond appropriately to routine issues, including reporting safety incidents
- Ability to analyse products or processes and identify actions to rectify issues
- Sound judgement in making timely decisions and establishing priorities
- Ability to identify and escalate risks to meet regulatory requirements
- Ability to plan and manage own time and deliver at pace
- Ability to provide coaching or supervision to junior or equivalent-level colleagues where required
- Ability to identify knowledge gaps and establish development priorities
- Current SC Clearance required for the duration of the assignment
