About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Participate in the Summer 2027 Technology Internship Program across Software Engineering, Data Engineering, and Data Science
  • Software Engineering: help plan, design, develop, test, and deploy features and applications
  • Write quality code, troubleshoot issues, and improve existing products and functionality
  • Use AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code for coding, debugging, testing, documentation, and development workflows
  • Data Engineering: build, maintain, and improve data infrastructure
  • Work with large, complex datasets
  • Develop and optimize data ingestion pipelines
  • Automate data processes and monitor and troubleshoot data workflows
  • Data Science: apply statistics, machine learning, and AI to healthcare data and real-world business problems
  • Support data exploration, model development and evaluation, experimentation, and communication of analytical findings
  • Explore generative AI, LLMs, and AI-assisted development tools
  • Align to a team and project based on skills, interests, academic background, and business needs
  • Collaborate with experienced professionals on products, data solutions, and business outcomes

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must live in the Kansas City metro area or in the Rolla, MO area
  • Able to work without visa sponsorship now and in the future
  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Data Analytics, Data Engineering, or related field
  • Juniors and above preferred (2+ years of degree experience)
  • Python and SQL
  • C#/.NET preferred; Java or C++ also relevant
  • SQL Server and relational databases
  • Databricks, Spark, and Git
  • Excel, Power BI, and PowerPoint
  • Understanding of object-oriented programming concepts
  • Ability to troubleshoot and debug applications
  • Ability to write performant SQL queries against complex data models
  • Understanding of relational databases, data structures, and software development fundamentals
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to communicate data topics and results clearly
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and effective in a remote environment
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and team player attitude
  • Software Engineering candidates: HTML, CSS/Sass, React, and TypeScript are a plus
  • Exposure to NoSQL/MongoDB, data pipelines, ETL/ELT, distributed data processing, APIs, cloud technologies, statistics, machine learning, NLP, data science libraries, generative AI, LLMs, prompt engineering, embeddings, vector search, or RAG is a plus or preferred depending on track
