About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own validation plans demonstrating that software, firmware and models meet requirements on the real machine
  • Build and maintain automated verification that runs on every change and defines release gates
  • Maintain software requirements and hazard traceability from requirements and hazards to tests and results
  • Produce release evidence covering changes, versions, tests, results and recorded exceptions
  • Maintain model evaluation records required before model promotion
  • Define written evidence requirements and raw-data records for counting and checking accuracy figures
  • Conduct accuracy measurements with hardware and vision leads and verify figures against requirements
  • Own evidence packs for customer-witnessed acceptance tests
  • Define requirements for test environments with the engineers who build them
  • Run test suites and end-to-end harnesses across cloud services, on-machine software, firmware and vision
  • Collaborate with systems engineering, hardware engineering, vision leads and software squads
  • Report to the Head of Software Engineering with significant autonomy and influence
  • Hold releases that miss criteria and clearly state what the evidence proves

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience owning verification or release evidence for a system where incorrect results had consequences
  • Experience taking ownership through a release that went wrong
  • Fluency sufficient to write test harnesses in system languages; deep skill in one language and working comfort in a second
  • Rust, TypeScript, Python and Bash are used in the organization
  • Ability to produce evidence auditable by a third party, including predefined criteria, documented methods and retained raw data
  • Experience maintaining traceability among requirements, hazards, tests and results through real change
  • Experience building reliable test suites with containers, service dependencies and short-lived environments
  • Experience creating gates that fail loudly when they cannot run
  • Experience testing system seams: cloud to machine, machine to firmware, and software to vision
  • Experience in a regulated or audited industry such as medical devices, pharmaceutical manufacturing, automotive or aerospace is nice to have
  • Experience with witnessed acceptance testing is nice to have
  • Knowledge of measurement and statistics for accuracy studies, including sampling, uncertainty and model-evaluation holdout hygiene is nice to have
  • Experience with load testing, property-based testing and fault testing is nice to have
  • Experience automating tests against real hardware on a bench is nice to have

Benefits

Comp & perks
  • Ownership of the evidence that software, firmware and models perform as stated
  • Hard problems involving system-seam testing, hazard traceability and auditable evidence
  • Small team, zero bureaucracy, high trust
  • Significant autonomy and influence
  • Direct impact on customer and assessor-facing evidence
  • Growth spanning change-level checks through release evidence
