About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own the pharmacy machine operator screen and subsequent product screens
  • Build and maintain interfaces for prescription queues, drug and consumable replenishment, machine health, administration, exception handling, and on-screen keypad sign-in
  • Develop the React application for the machine and maintain fidelity with the reviewed design prototype
  • Collaborate daily with the product designer and engineers owning the on-machine software
  • Implement touch-only interaction patterns for busy pharmacy technicians
  • Design interruption states covering ambient status, calls for attention, and blocking dialogs, including machine-fault alerts
  • Render server-owned domain state delivered through the interface contract
  • Work with TypeScript types generated from Rust source and identify contract drift through build failures
  • Establish and enforce frontend quality standards through unit tests, coverage measurement, end-to-end browser tests, and lint rules for design tokens
  • Set standards for later screens, including the cloud operations dashboard
  • In the first 90 days, merge screen changes, learn core technician workflows, participate in design reviews, establish interruption and testing practices, ensure design/application fidelity, prepare for security review, and plan the next dashboard

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience owning a product surface used daily, from initial design through field issues, with evidence of changes made after failures
  • Expertise with strict TypeScript and types that make invalid states impossible to express
  • Experience with React 19 and the React Compiler
  • Understanding of the Rules of React
  • Experience building over state owned by the server and delivered by WebSocket
  • Experience with Tailwind 4, Vite, Vitest, and Playwright
  • Experience with component tests and real-browser end-to-end tests
  • Experience turning a living design prototype into production software
  • Working knowledge of touch interfaces on fixed devices, including large targets, application-drawn keypads, and mis-tap protection
  • Ability to reason in explicit states and transitions
  • Accessibility knowledge including WCAG 2.1 AA and responsive web work (nice to have)
  • Experience with embedded browsers, point-of-sale, or other constrained devices (nice to have)
  • Healthcare or regulated-industry experience (nice to have)
  • Experience creating a design system or standard adopted by other engineers (nice to have)

Benefits

Comp & perks
  • Small team, zero bureaucracy, high trust
  • Significant autonomy and influence
  • Ownership of the operator screen end to end, then every screen that follows
  • Direct impact on pharmacy staff using the machine
  • Professional growth through setting the frontend standard for later screens
