About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee Storage/Org, Mattresses/Furniture and Rugs merchandise categories
- Own a portion of the Buying Office’s business
- Manage long-term and short-term strategic and financial planning
- Purchase merchandise and manage sales objectives
- Select products based on relevant trends and translate trends into products/concepts for multi-platform retail
- Educate and communicate with vendors and cross-functional departments
- Maintain the on-air assortment for assigned merchandise categories and build on-air strategies
- Develop terms and purchase items that exceed customer expectations
- Analyze sales, trends, vendor productivity, categories, and customer-buying behaviors
- Maintain product elevation and quality
- Perform daily office functions, including spreadsheet maintenance and item creation
- Help train the Intern and Assistant Buyer on daily office operations
- Handle Quality Assurance issues
- Partner with internal advocates to maximize product lifecycle efficiency and manage the order process
- Establish relationships with DDGS, Quality Assurance, Category Production, eCommerce, Legal, Social Marketing, Multi Channel Planning, Sales, and Planning
- Establish vendor relationships and manage vendor communication, education, and preparation
- Give oral and written presentations
Requirements
What you’ll need- 3-5 years of corporate merchandise buying experience
- Advanced spreadsheet macro-writing skills
- Product expertise
- Ability to analyze item, category, and on-air sales
- Ability to analyze vendor and category productivity
- Ability to evaluate customer-buying behaviors and identify trends
- Ability to maintain spreadsheets and create items
- Ability to handle Quality Assurance issues
- Ability to communicate and collaborate with cross-functional departments and vendors
- Ability to give oral and written presentations
- Strong mentoring skills
- Must reside in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, or Delaware
