About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the development, planning, and management of product assortments and categories
- Research and identify new products, brands, and suppliers
- Monitor market, competitor, and trend developments
- Analyze customer needs and derive relevant product and assortment recommendations
- Prepare for and support supplier meetings as well as price, terms, and contract negotiations
- Maintain and expand existing supplier relationships
- Support the creation of assortment and purchasing plans
- Analyze revenue, unit sales, margin, inventory, and sell-through figures
- Develop initiatives to optimize assortments and improve profitability
- Contribute to product launches, sales promotions, and seasonal campaigns
- Prepare presentations, analyses, and decision-making materials
- Coordinate product information and liaise with internal and external stakeholders
- Work closely with Merchandising, Planning, Marketing, Logistics, Content, Finance, and other departments
- Contribute to cross-functional projects to optimize purchasing and assortment processes
- Support the timely and smooth implementation of products
Requirements
What you’ll need- Completed degree, for example in Business Administration, Retail, Marketing, Economics, or a comparable commercial qualification
- Professional experience in Purchasing, Purchasing Support, Merchandising, Product Management, Category Management, or Retail
- Passion for products, brands, trends, and developing customer-focused assortments
- Strong interest in commercial relationships and business performance metrics
- Analytical, structured, and meticulous approach to work
- Confident handling of numbers and strong MS Office skills, particularly Excel
- Excellent communication skills and enjoyment of working with diverse stakeholders
- High level of initiative, sense of responsibility, and willingness to learn
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple topics simultaneously
- Confident negotiation skills and a strong understanding of customer and supplier needs
- Very good German and good English skills, both written and spoken
- Team spirit, flexibility, and enthusiasm for a dynamic, international work environment
