About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide financial counseling support by helping patients understand insurance benefits and out-of-pocket costs
- Meet with patients to discuss payment options and financial assistance programs
- Verify insurance eligibility and explain benefits
- Assist with Medicaid and financial assistance applications
- Build trust with patients during stressful financial situations
- Collaborate with care teams and revenue cycle departments
- Maintain accurate documentation across multiple systems
- Navigate insurance programs, financial assistance options, and patient account needs in a fast-paced hospital environment
- Move between systems, phone calls, and in-person interactions while working alongside clinicians and emergency staff
Requirements
What you’ll need- Exceptional customer service experience, communication and interpersonal skills
- Genuine compassion, empathy, and patience when supporting patients, clients, and team members
- Ability to explain financial and insurance concepts clearly
- Ability to multitask and prioritize quickly with high attention to detail
- Professionalism with sensitive financial conversations
- High School Diploma or GED
- Spanish bilingual skills strongly encouraged
- Ability to work PRN shifts Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.
