About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Deliver exceptional customer service to patients, healthcare professionals, and payors while maintaining patient confidentiality
- Prepare, scan, index, organize, and quality-check medical records
- Check in charts, reconcile records, and follow up on missing documentation
- Ensure resolution of health record deficiencies complies with regulatory, legal, and reimbursement standards
- Assist with physician relinquishment, faxing, reporting, and auditing
- Assist with DNFB functions to obtain documentation needed for coding and billing
- Perform daily medical-record prepping and scanning while meeting productivity and quality standards
- Conduct quality audits to verify accuracy and completeness of legal medical records across multiple medical systems
- Perform general office duties including filing, printing, faxing, answering calls, and assisting customers
Requirements
What you’ll need- High degree of professionalism
- Discretion in handling highly confidential protected health information
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple HIM job functions
- High attention to detail and data skills in Microsoft Word, Excel or Google Sheets
- Ability to assist with running reports
- Flexibility with working schedule covering two HIM sites
- Strong data entry skills
- Understanding of Health Informatics (HI)
- Ability to run error analysis and recommend solutions
- Ability to exercise independent judgment related to retrieval of health information
