About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead approximately 25 engineers and specialists building and operating critical platform services
- Guide multiple engineering teams developing and operating secure, scalable, and reliable Microsoft Azure platform services
- Shape architecture decisions, technical roadmaps, and modernization initiatives
- Help engineers use Generative AI to learn faster, improve delivery, and focus on high-value work
- Modernize and expand enterprise-grade data platform services on Microsoft Azure
- Drive adoption of cloud-native architectures and engineering best practices
- Lead modernization initiatives across .NET applications and platform services
- Optimize large-scale SQL Server environments for performance, reliability, and scalability
- Build reusable platform capabilities and engineering standards
- Improve CI/CD pipelines, automation, observability, and operational excellence
- Enable engineering teams to deliver secure and compliant solutions at scale
- Drive technical debt reduction and platform simplification
- Manage platform-related budgets and technology investments
- Collaborate with external suppliers and strategic partners
- Align technical direction and priorities with Architecture, Data, Security, Infrastructure, and Business stakeholders
- Establish and drive engineering standards and best practices
- Build and develop engineering teams through hiring, coaching, and professional and technical support
- Take end-to-end responsibility for platform service stability and reliability in a 24/7 environment
- Act as technical authority for Data Foundation Platform Services
- Lead platform modernization and cloud transformation initiatives
Requirements
What you’ll need- Academic working and thinking level
- 8+ years of experience in complex enterprise IT environments
- Proven experience leading multiple DevOps or engineering teams
- Strong people leadership and coaching skills
- Demonstrated ability to build high-performing engineering teams
- Proven expertise with Microsoft Azure platform services
- Experience with cloud-native architectures and distributed systems
- Deep understanding of full stack .NET development (.NET Framework and/or .NET Core)
- Extensive experience with SQL Server, database architecture, performance tuning, and operational management
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD, DevOps practices, Infrastructure as Code, and automation
- Understanding of observability, monitoring, resilience, and operational excellence
- Familiarity with security, risk, and compliance requirements in enterprise environments
- Strong technical credibility and engineering mindset
- Passion for coaching and mentoring engineers
- Ability to challenge and improve existing ways of working
- Result-oriented and pragmatic approach
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Change leadership ability
- Must be located in the Netherlands; relocation is not possible
- Security check required as part of the process
