About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage and maintain accounts receivable and accounts payable activities
  • Prepare and maintain bank, balance sheet, and general ledger account reconciliations
  • Prepare and post month-end journal entries, accruals, adjustments, and other general ledger transactions
  • Review revenue and expenses for completeness, accuracy, classification, and period recognition
  • Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and unusual financial activity
  • Maintain fixed asset accounting records and deferred revenue schedules
  • Prepare lease accounting schedules, reconciliations, and journal entries
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close activities
  • Oversee inventory costing processes and inventory valuation reporting
  • Monitor slow-moving and obsolete inventory and prepare inventory reconciliations and reports
  • Administer annual inventory count documentation and support physical inventory counts
  • Prepare financial reports, financial statements, management reports, and ad hoc analyses
  • Communicate significant financial findings or discrepancies to the Director of Accounting
  • Support income tax reporting and information requests from tax advisors or corporate headquarters
  • Serve as a point of contact for internal and external auditors and prepare audit schedules
  • Assist with financial, tax, payroll, and other audits or examinations
  • Assist with documentation and monitoring of internal controls
  • Identify and implement accounting process, automation, and efficiency improvements
  • Develop and maintain accounting procedures, schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation
  • Partner with Human Resources and Accounting on payroll matters and provide backup payroll support
  • Review payroll information, support payroll reconciliations, and identify discrepancies
  • Mentor and guide less experienced accounting team members
  • Participate in cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial, payroll, compensation, employee, and other sensitive information
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Director of Accounting

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
  • Five or more years of progressive accounting experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of the general ledger, income statement, balance sheet, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes
  • Working knowledge of Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable processes and cash application
  • Experience with inventory management and cost accounting
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP
  • Experience with fixed assets, deferred revenue, lease accounting, tax reporting, audits, and internal controls preferred
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, or similar programs
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of major accounting or ERP software systems
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics is a plus
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet established deadlines
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and take ownership of assigned work
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with employees, management, Human Resources, external auditors, and other business partners
  • Strong ethics, integrity, and understanding of the importance of confidentiality
  • Experience mentoring or developing other members of an Accounting or Finance team preferred
