About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop staff assignment plans for the Montreal News Centre
  • Coordinate requester needs, reports, spreadsheets, timelines, and other data required to produce assignment plans
  • Ensure compliance with collective agreements, internal policies, and corporate standards
  • Provide strategic planning and advisory support to production teams and senior editorial staff
  • Negotiate terms with stakeholders and find creative solutions to ensure operational continuity
  • Coordinate information across departments to establish assignment schedules and secure necessary production approvals
  • Work daytime shifts in-office and remotely
  • Participate in rotating remote evening, night, and weekend on-call shifts to address last-minute replacement needs
  • Recommend alternative solutions during frequent urgent situations and maintain quality follow-up

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • College diploma or equivalent
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in similar roles, such as project management, production logistics, or budget planning
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, autonomy, and respect for confidentiality
  • Strong ability to manage multiple files simultaneously
  • Proven interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Strong ability to develop creative solutions and propose alternatives
  • Ability to work collaboratively and share knowledge
  • Excellent command of French
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace (an asset)
  • Knowledge of a newsroom production environment (an asset)
  • Successful completion of an interview
  • May be subject to skills and knowledge testing
  • Mandatory criminal record check and other background checks as required
