About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build and run back-end services for Raidiam Connect, an ecosystem trust control system used by digital identity ecosystems
- Push new features and bug fixes into server-side codebases in Java and Go
- Take work through refinement, implementation, automated testing, code review and production release
- Learn and adopt the team’s technologies and tools, building fluency in Java and Go
- Use LLM-based coding assistants responsibly and take full ownership of submitted work
- Write and maintain automated tests, database migrations and OpenAPI specification changes
- Contribute to code reviews
- Investigate defects and help diagnose problems in deployed environments
- Escalate issues beyond scope clearly and early
- Participate in planning and estimation
- Communicate progress, risks and blockers
- Collaborate with product managers, UI developers, customer-facing colleagues and live-environment operators
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience writing server-side code in at least one of Go or Java in a professional, academic, open-source or substantial personal-project setting
- Demonstrated appetite and aptitude to become productive in the other of Go or Java
- Working understanding of relational databases and SQL; able to read a schema, write basic queries and reason about a data model
- Comfortable with HTTP and REST APIs
- Writes automated tests as a normal part of completing work
- Everyday fluency with Git and familiarity with code review and continuous integration
- Practical experience using LLM-based coding assistants, with judgement to verify outputs and reject incorrect suggestions
- Able to take well-defined work through to production and communicate clearly with the wider team
- Supportive and collaborative approach to teamwork
- Clear written and spoken English
- Exposure to AWS or similar cloud service (desirable)
- Experience with Micronaut, Spring Boot or comparable JVM framework (desirable)
- Experience with infrastructure as code, particularly Terraform (desirable)
- Familiarity with OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JSON Web Tokens, mutual TLS or X.509 / PKI concepts (desirable)
- Experience with testing tools in the Java and Go ecosystems (desirable)
