About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead Raise the Future’s financial strategy and long-term financial sustainability
  • Advise the CEO, Senior Leadership Team, Board of Directors, Finance Committee, and other Board committees
  • Develop multi-year financial strategies, models, forecasts, scenarios, budgets, dashboards, and long-range plans
  • Strengthen reserves, operating sustainability, financial flexibility, internal controls, policies, and procedures
  • Evaluate program and partnership financial sustainability and return on investment
  • Diversify and grow revenue
  • Manage communication, workflow, budget-building, and invoicing for more than 70 public and private grant awards
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a Finance team of four
  • Oversee financial operations, grant budgeting and monitoring, grant and contract records, insurance policies, benefits, payroll, and 401(k) administration
  • Oversee cash management, investments, banking relationships, and cash-flow planning
  • Improve, integrate, and automate financial processes and systems, including ERP, HRIS, and donor management systems
  • Oversee Medicaid and clinical services billing
  • Monitor performance against budgets and forecasts and provide recommendations
  • Manage annual audit preparation, audited financial statements, Form 990, regulatory filings, and compliance
  • Identify and manage financial and operational risks
  • Prepare and present financial information supporting Board governance and accountability

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Strong business and financial acumen
  • Strategic financial leadership experience
  • Experience leading an organization through financial complexity, change, growth, or turnaround
  • Experience with grant management and budgeting
  • Nonprofit financial leadership experience, ideally in a complex, multi-state or multi-program organization
  • Demonstrated success strengthening financial sustainability, building reserves, improving forecasting, and aligning resources with strategy
  • Experience developing accurate financial models, reporting, and forecasting
  • People leadership and talent development experience
  • Ability to work hands-on with day-to-day accounting and billing processes
  • Experience managing complex systems, programs, and funding streams
  • Specialization in managing complex grants from various sources
  • Experience with Sage Intacct strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of GAAP and applicable federal and state regulations
  • Ability to oversee Medicaid and clinical services billing processes
  • Ability to oversee audits, Form 990, regulatory filings, government contracts, and grant requirements
