Key responsibilities & impact- Design, implement, and execute test plans validating software and firmware functionality, performance, reliability, and compliance across embedded firmware, software applications, instrument communications, command interfaces, user experiences, and customer workflows
- Create and maintain automated tests, test frameworks, and supporting infrastructure
- Review requirements, specifications, and design documentation to develop verification strategies and ensure test coverage
- Analyze test failures, troubleshoot issues, isolate root causes, and collaborate with development teams on resolution
- Document verification results, track test progress, and communicate findings, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders
- Collaborate with software, firmware, and hardware engineers throughout the product lifecycle
- Support project planning through effort estimation, risk assessment, and release readiness activities
- Continuously improve verification processes, tools, and automation capabilities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience in software and/or firmware verification, test engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline
- 3+ years of experience in software verification, firmware verification, or a related engineering role
- Experience testing integrated software, firmware, and hardware systems
- Strong programming skills in Python
- Experience designing, developing, and maintaining scalable automated test frameworks and automation solutions
- Experience with source control systems such as Git
- Experience creating test plans, test cases, test reports, and other verification documentation
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills across software, firmware, and hardware interactions
- Ability to analyze requirements and translate them into effective verification strategies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability and desire to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional engineering environment
- Experience using defect tracking and work management systems such as Jira
- Preferred: Experience using test and measurement equipment such as digital multimeters (DMMs), source measure units (SMUs), oscilloscopes, power supplies, switch systems, data acquisition systems, or other electronic instrumentation
- Preferred: Familiarity with Lua, C#, or C++
- Preferred: Familiarity with SCPI, VISA, IVI, and LXI-compliant instruments
- Preferred: Experience testing USB, LAN/Ethernet, GPIB, and RS-232 interfaces
