About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide students with general guidance and direction to promote persistence, improve retention outcomes and support enrollment growth
- Build strong student relationships and provide effective academic advising
- Collaborate with admissions, faculty, career services and central services
- Serve as the primary point of contact for resolving student needs and coordinating student services
- Create and maintain quarterly student schedules and advise on course sequence
- Complete quarterly student academic progress audits, including GPA and CCR calculations and projections
- Manage advising schedules, outreach and overall student success
- Provide encouragement and support addressing students' personal obstacles to educational success
- Use the student information system to identify, document and track student progress and advising activities
- Advise students on financial aid questions, FAFSA/FAConnect, ledger cards, payment plans and excess funds
- Explain the impact of credit load on tuition and financial aid awards
- Conduct proactive student outreach and audit student success data trends
- Assist with student retention strategies
- Maintain adherence to institutional, governmental and accreditation policies and regulations
- Contribute to team environment, process improvement and University decision-making
- Support campus and community activities, orientations, career fairs and graduation ceremonies
- Maintain knowledge of University programs, accreditation, learning outcomes, career opportunities and industry outlook
Requirements
What you’ll need- 1 year experience in Advising, Counseling, Customer Service or related field
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Student information system experience preferred
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other departments both in-person and virtually
- Strong multi-tasking, organizational, planning and coordination skills
- Proven customer service in a professional environment
- Self-motivated, flexible, patient and solutions oriented
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong command of the English language, both oral and written
- Professional appearance and telephone/virtual manner
- Ability to work evenings and weekends
- Bachelor's degree required
