About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design and build backend services supporting the full credit journey: origination, analysis, disbursement, and repayment
  • Model edge cases, reason about failure modes, and build controls protecting customers and the business
  • Write production-grade Java/Spring services on AWS
  • Emphasize observability, fault tolerance, and security
  • Participate in architecture reviews, RFCs, and incident retrospectives
  • Influence technical decisions and how the team solves complex problems
  • Collaborate with product, data, and risk teams to translate business requirements into reliable, maintainable software

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Strong backend engineering fundamentals with hands-on experience in Java and Spring (Boot, MVC, Security, Data)
  • Solid AWS experience designing and operating distributed cloud services
  • Structured approach to problem analysis, including understanding systems, tradeoffs, and downstream risk
  • Ability to operate autonomously, drive tasks to completion, and surface blockers early
  • Clear, direct communication with engineers, product managers, and risk analysts
  • Experience building systems where reliability and security are first-class concerns
  • Experience in credit, lending, or financial products is a plus
  • Familiarity with event-driven architectures such as Kafka is a plus
  • Knowledge of fraud prevention, risk scoring, or compliance patterns is a plus
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code is a plus
