About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, implement, and improve scalable operating processes for an asset-light, platform-driven business
- Own the operational roadmap and translate company strategy into operating plans with measurable KPIs
- Lead cross-functional Operations, Customer Success, Compliance, and Vendor Management teams
- Oversee onboarding, performance management, and optimization of third-party hauler, recycler, and processing partners
- Develop and enforce vendor SLAs, compliance requirements, and sustainability certifications
- Negotiate strategic partnerships and build resilience into the partner network
- Partner with the CTO on dispatch, routing, reporting platform operations, and platform enhancements
- Use data and analytics to optimize route efficiency, diversion rates, and cost-per-service metrics
- Own end-to-end customer service delivery, service quality metrics, and continuous improvement
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations
- Champion waste diversion, recycling, and carbon reduction goals
- Develop and enforce safety standards
- Lead and develop a distributed workforce across multiple office and field locations
- Partner with HR on onboarding, performance management, and career development programs
- Travel to field locations 20–40% of the time
- Own the operational P&L and manage costs across vendors, logistics, technology, and headcount
- Partner with the CFO and CRO on financial models, reporting, resource planning, and growth targets
- Identify operational efficiencies, margin improvements, and cost-saving initiatives
- Build, mentor, and retain the operations leadership team
- Represent operations in board meetings, investor updates, and key customer engagements
Requirements
What you’ll need- 10+ years of progressive operational leadership experience in Director-level roles and above
- At least 3 years in a senior VP or C-suite role
- Experience leading operations in an asset-light, platform, marketplace, or managed services business model
- Experience managing distributed teams across multiple geographic locations
- Experience managing complex third-party partner or vendor networks with multi-region scope
- Ownership of multiple P&Ls exceeding $100M
- Ability to build and scale operational processes in a high-growth environment
- Exceptional cross-functional leadership, communication, and executive presence
- Preferred: background in waste management, environmental services, logistics, facilities management, or related industries
- Preferred: familiarity with environmental compliance requirements and sustainability certifications, including ISO 14001, R2, ISRI, and NWRA
- Preferred: experience with SaaS or technology-enabled service platforms
- Preferred: MBA or advanced degree in Operations, Business, Engineering, or a related field
- Preferred: experience leading M&A integration or rapid geographic expansion
