About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, develop and maintain scalable backend applications using Ruby on Rails
Build new features and improve existing platform functionality
Work with Product Managers to translate requirements into technical solutions and estimate development efforts
Write clean, maintainable, well-tested production code
Participate in code reviews, testing and technical decision-making
Troubleshoot issues and improve application performance, reliability and scalability
Collaborate with distributed engineering, product and infrastructure teams
Work alongside the CTO, Tech Lead and wider engineering team on scalable, AI-powered applications

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of commercial experience in backend or full-stack software engineering
Strong, hands-on Ruby on Rails experience, ideally recent and in production
Experience building and scaling production applications with real users
Ability to take ownership of features from requirements through development, testing and deployment
Previous experience in a startup, scale-up or similarly fast-paced environment
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to balance code quality with delivery speed
Excellent English and experience working with international teams
Full comfort working with uncensored AI companionship products and explicit NSFW content
Experience with Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, Redis, Hotwire (Turbo and Stimulus), and Tailwind CSS
B2B contract arrangement preferred; flexible
