About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own delivery and daily execution for the engineering team
Translate product and business goals into scoped, sequenced work
Hire, develop, and manage a team of 5–8 engineers from junior to senior levels
Run performance reviews, provide regular feedback, and conduct career development conversations
Drive process improvements for velocity, estimation, and quality
Liaise with product, design, and business stakeholders on scope, risks, and trade-offs
Partner with Engineering Managers and the Principal Engineer on coherent technical direction
Integrate AI-assisted development into the team's daily workflow
Create a psychologically safe environment for engineers

Requirements

What you’ll need

Experience leading a team of engineers through delivery, ideally on consumer-facing products at some scale
Track record of developing people, including engineers who were promoted or improved
Hands-on technical credibility sufficient to evaluate technical trade-offs and coach engineers
Ability to participate meaningfully in design reviews and technical conversations
Comfort owning outcomes, team delivery, and morale when requirements change
Bias toward direct, specific feedback and follow-through
