About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Define a unified user understanding framework and long-term technical strategy
- Lead advanced user models and large-scale representation learning across Feeds, Notifications, Search, and Ads
- Leverage LLMs and GenAI for dynamic user profiles, intent inference, and semantic reasoning
- Design storage, retrieval, feature pipelines, APIs, and large-scale learning and serving components
- Ensure low-latency serving, high availability, and MLOps integration
- Drive experimentation and adoption with Feeds, Notifications, Search, Ads, product, infrastructure, and downstream ML teams
- Mentor senior and staff engineers, lead design reviews, and establish engineering best practices
Requirements
What you’ll need- At least 10 years experience building and scaling production-grade ML systems, particularly in user modeling, large-scale representation learning, or recommender systems
- Track record of driving ambiguous, high-impact initiatives from concept to production
- Strong fundamentals in representation learning, behavioral modeling, and user clustering
- Experience or strong intuition applying LLMs or foundation models
- Systems thinking across data, training, evaluation, serving, and adoption
- Ability to partner with product, infrastructure, and ML teams
- Experience mentoring senior engineers, leading design reviews, and establishing best practices
- Ability to navigate trade-offs across quality, latency, cost, and safety
