About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Partner with Product Management, Product Design, Data Science, and Client Engineers to translate business and user needs into reliable, low-latency technical solutions
Own the full software lifecycle for major product initiatives, from technical design documents and API contracts through development, testing, rollout, and observability
Design, build, and evaluate A/B experiments using tools such as BigQuery, HEX, or Firebase
Analyze user behavior, conversion funnels, and retention loops to make data-backed engineering decisions
Build and maintain scalable GraphQL, REST, and gRPC APIs and distributed backend services
Establish engineering best practices and improve developer workflows
Mentor, coach, and collaborate with technical contributors
Select, scope, and drive high-leverage projects aligned with Reddit’s goals
Develop performant, scalable, and high-quality architecture around authentication, authorization, and identity
Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Reddit Engineering
Learn and improve technical and non-technical abilities

Requirements

What you’ll need

3+ years of experience building internet-scale software, preferably with a focus on distributed systems infrastructure or infrastructure security
Software development experience in one or more general-purpose programming languages: Golang, Python, C++, or Java
Experience with essential cloud infrastructure: Kubernetes, CI/CD, AWS, and GCP
Hands-on experience implementing features, optimizations, and bug fixes to distributed messaging systems
Excellent communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders in engineering, data science, machine learning, and product
Degree in Computer Science or an equivalent technical field
