About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own the backend and internal platform layer between Redesign’s infrastructure and applied AI products
Build APIs, databases, services, resource models, migrations, and access patterns for Redesign’s core AI operating system
Make platform primitives discoverable, safe to extend, and difficult to misuse
Define agentic coding patterns, harness design, memory management, verification loops, and self-learning multi-agent code review
Create a trusted path from intent to production for safe, standards-compliant, verified generated code
Own developer experience for infrastructure engineers, applied AI engineers, and domain experts without formal software backgrounds
Build cross-team tools and interfaces that capture important work and workflows
Report to a VP of Technology
Own a full technical domain between infrastructure and applied AI within a global technology practice
Build the backend shared layer of data, access, tools, and conventions for applications, agents, and builders

Requirements

What you’ll need

10-12+ years of engineering experience, with meaningful time at staff, principal, or equivalent level at a serious software company
Experience anchoring the technical work of a small, fast team and owning backend, data, developer-platform, or internal-platform systems
Production backend experience in Python and/or TypeScript
Experience with database schemas, migrations, API contracts, authentication, and permissions
Deep experience with Postgres or a similar relational database
Experience building authorization or identity layers with scoped access for users, services, and agents
Experience shipping APIs and data services used by multiple teams
Experience building or operating agent-facing infrastructure, including MCP servers and tools, Claude Code or Cursor conventions, skills or plugin systems, sandboxed execution, code-review automation, evals, usage and cost controls, and safe defaults
Product craft and developer experience across tools, applications, or internal platforms for experienced engineers and builders without traditional software backgrounds
Proficiency with modern agent frameworks such as the Anthropic Agent SDK, Lang* / Deep Agents, or similar
Production experience building systems on modern agent frameworks
Experience building systems on coding agents such as Claude Code, including skills, MCPs, and custom harnesses
Technology as a passion and deep dedication to another creative, athletic, family-business, or service pursuit
English writing ability for API documentation, migration notes, examples, agent instructions, and tool descriptions
Ability to design tools, context, permissions, evals, memory, and failure recovery for agents as first-class users
Strong plus: founder, founding engineer, or 0-to-1 product engineering ownership in a small, fast team
Bonus: quantitative degree, open-source contributions, published work, or a side project used by others
