About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead ADP engineering end to end and own its roadmap
- Ship in-demand features and functionality at startup speed
- Own the AI gateway, MCP/tool governance, agent identity, policy enforcement, and audit/observability layer
- Work cross-functionally with Product, Sales, Customer Engineering, and design-partner customers
- Operationalize the path from design partnerships to paid production deployments
- Craft and execute Redpanda's technology vision and strategy for ADP
- Help establish an AI-first way of working for software engineering
- Empower, motivate, and enable the team to contribute to organizational success
- Provide frequent, actionable feedback and career development guidance
- Create a collaborative, goal-aligned team environment
- Improve team processes and measure outcomes
- Lead recruiting and hiring
- Participate in performance reviews and manage team-member performance
- Mentor team members on personal and career growth
- Escalate systemic challenges and impediments to management
- Discuss strategic topics with peers and Directors
- Track progress, assess risks, and communicate contingency and mitigation plans
- Manage execution of team projects
Requirements
What you’ll need- 10+ years of experience in software development and delivery
- 5+ years of experience managing software developers
- Experience leading or managing highly technical engineering teams
- Experience developing strategy and roadmaps under real ambiguity
- Hands-on experience with, or a strong point of view on, AI agent infrastructure, including LLM gateways, MCP/tool-calling, agent identity and authorization, or governed data access patterns for AI systems
- Entrepreneurial spirit
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated technical leadership and ability to represent engineering directly to customers and prospects in technical sales motions
- Previous experience growing a team to 15–20 people
- Comfortable working with globally distributed engineering teams
- Self-starter
- Experience with AI-assisted software development and AI-first working models
- Nice to have: experience shipping a net-new product category or 0-to-1 product
- Nice to have: experience with AI agent frameworks, protocols, or infrastructure such as MCP, A2A, LLM gateways, agent orchestration runtimes, or agent identity/authorization systems
- Nice to have: experience selling or supporting technical products in security- or compliance-sensitive markets
- Nice to have: track record introducing AI-assisted development practices and measuring velocity or quality changes
- Nice to have: previous experience managing people managers
- Must be able and willing to work onsite in the Warsaw office at least 3 days per week
